“First Step into the Profession: A Meeting of First-Year Students of “6D02304 - Translation Studies (western languages)” with a Simultaneous Interpreter and Employer, Erzhan A.”
As part of the department’s adaptation and career guidance activities, On April 2, 2026 a meeting was held between first-year students of the program “6D02304 - Translation Studies (western languages)” and a professional simultaneous interpreter and employer, Erzhan A.

The event aimed to provide first-year students with a comprehensive understanding of the translation profession, its current requirements, and career opportunities in the labor market. During the meeting, the speaker shared his professional journey, discussed the specifics of simultaneous interpreting, the nature of working in an international environment, and the key skills required for a successful career.
Particular attention was paid to early professional development, the importance of practical experience, continuous improvement of language competencies, and stress resilience as a crucial quality for a simultaneous interpreter. The speaker also presented real-life professional cases, helping students better understand the realities of the profession.
In an open dialogue format, students asked questions, discussed career prospects, and received practical recommendations on building their individual educational and professional trajectories.
The event contributed to increasing students’ motivation, strengthening the link between the university and the professional community, and was implemented within the framework of SDG 4: Quality Education, with contributions to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
