Research activities
Young Scientists Competition 2025-2027
In accordance with the Charter of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, the Regulations on the Department of Science and Innovation, the scientific and technical, scientific, organizational and research activities at the university are managed by the Scientific and Technical Council of the 91传媒 KazNU. The main tasks and functions of the STC KazNU named after al-Farabi are:
- Development and implementation of a strategy for the development of scientific, technical, scientific, organizational and research activities of the university;
- Organization and coordination of fundamental, exploratory-applied, innovative scientific research in the field of natural-technical and social-humanitarian sciences;
- Development of the main directions for the implementation at the University of the Strategy for Industrial and Innovative Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, recommendations for the implementation of research results in production, management and marketing of scientific developments;
- Organization and coordination of interaction between the university and other research institutions and industrial enterprises, international funds and organizations supporting science and education;
- Analysis of activities for the defense of dissertations for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor in profile; Consideration of issues at the university on the scientific component of the educational program of doctoral studies (PhD);
- analysis of activities for organizing and coordinating students' research work at the university, activating the forms and methods of involving students in the research process;
- Organization of events to promote and disseminate the scientific achievements of the university (exhibitions, publishing activities); Implementation of coordination and control over the activities of research institutes, centers, technopark;
- Analysis of the financial condition of the university research and effective search for extrabudgetary sources of funding.
The composition of the STC of KazNU named after al-Farabi includes: chairman - vice-rector for scientific and innovative activities, deputy chairman - director of the department for science and innovation, directors of research institutes and scientific centers, academic secretary, leading scientists recommended by the faculties of the university, deputy deans for scientific and innovation activity, head of the department of science and publication activity, head of the department of training and certification of scientific personnel, head of the department of innovation and intellectual property. Meetings of the STC of KazNU named after al-Farabi are held at least once a quarter and are drawn up in minutes. The minutes are signed by the chairman and scientific secretary of the Council.

At 91传媒 Kazakh National University, the quality control and organization of scientific publications are carried out by the Scientific Editorial Center, a collegial and expert body responsible for the evaluation and selection of scientific monographs and journals for publication. The Center ensures the appointment of qualified scientific editors for each publication, conducts scientific, editorial, and proofreading reviews, and monitors the academic quality, terminological accuracy, and compliance with academic standards. National and international standards for academic publishing are applied, including unified requirements for structure, citation, and bibliographic description. Semantic analysis of manuscripts is also conducted to ensure logical coherence and integrity of content. The use of information systems ensures transparency and control at all stages of the publishing process — from evaluation and editing to layout, design, and accounting of published scientific output.
The Council of Young Scientists (CYS) at the 91传媒 Kazakh National University was established on behalf of the rector and is a public association. The activity of the Council of which is aimed at promoting and developing the creative scientific activity of young scientists of KazNU, through participation in research and innovation activities.
The work of the Council of Young Scientists at the 91传媒 Kazakh National University is carried out according to the approved CYS work plan, within which the following activities were carried out:
The members of the Council of Young Scientists serve as advisors, are the heads of Research and Development, under whose leadership students' reports are prepared for the annual scientific student Republican and international conferences. Young scientists actively participate in the career guidance work of the university. CYS members are involved in administrative work as heads of departments of Departments of the University.
The objectives of CYS are to activate the professional growth of young scientists, to unite their efforts to develop topical scientific problems and solve priority scientific tasks, to develop innovative activities of young scientists.
To achieve these goals, CYS carries out the following activities:
- coordinates the activities of CYS faculties of 91传媒 Kazakh National University in the organization of scientific research of young scientists, plans and provides the necessary assistance in organizing conferences, scientific trips of young scientists;
- organizes and conducts scientific conferences, seminars, round tables, exhibitions, forums, and other events in which young scientists could take part;
- promotes the development of direct contacts between young scientists for the organization of interdisciplinary complex scientific research by young scientists aimed at solving urgent and practically significant tasks of modern science;
- carries out work on informing young scientists about scientific research and events held by Kazakhstani and foreign organizations;
- supports and stimulates the innovative activity of young scientists, organizes and carries out activities related to investment programs and project proposals of young scientists;
- carries out joint activities with the NSOs of the 91传媒 Kazakh National University to attract students to research activities;
- Together with the NSOs, they conduct career guidance work of the university according to the KazNU plan;
- carries out other types of activities that correspond to the set goals and do not contradict the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and this Regulation.
Purpose: Improving the quality of research and innovation activities of students and young scientists of the Kazakh National University, in order to create a competitive human resource potential of the country.
Tasks:

Creating an effective research environment for students and young scientists at the Kazakh National University (research institutes, departments).

Improvement and development of new methodological and competence-based approaches in the research of students.

Achievement of expected results in the implementation of the strategic plan for the development of research of students.
Toachieve this goal, the following tasks are solved:

organization and planning of research activities of students in the educational process;

the formation of motivation and incentives for students to more in-depth and creative development of educational material through participation in research work;

attracting students to participate in fundamental, applied research and development and design work as an indispensable part of R & D;

increasing the participation of students in R & D forms performed in an extra-curricular format;
-
integration into the educational process of the most relevant achievements of science and technology, the results of the research and development of the department (faculty in conjunction with students);
-
ensuring the most effective professional selection of talented young people for further education in the master's and doctoral studies, the formation of the personnel reserve of the University and the country.

SYSTEM OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WORK OF STUDENTS

THE RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION STUDENTS' RESEARCH WORKS

Scientific student's society (SSS) is the public organization uniting on a voluntary basis students 91传媒KazNU, constantly engaged in research and design work.
SSS is the voluntary public organization urged in every possible way to increase methodological preparation of students, to develop at them creative thinking and skills of research work, to promote studying of bases of the organization and carrying out scientific work. Scientific work of students to be carried out in close connection with educational process, scientific, rationalization and inventive work of higher education institution.
Student's scientific society is a public association of students of faculty which is the voluntary, homing, noncommercial formation created at the initiative of students of faculty.
The main objectives SSS:
- Organization of system work and carrying out actions for the priority functional directions of scientific life of faculty;
- Representation of interests of studens before faculty administration, and also at interuniversity, state and international levels;
- Assistance of realization of internal potential of students.
SSS solves the following problems:
- Consultation of students concerning their rights and duties, granting to students of information on mechanisms of carrying out research work on chairs and in scientific circles;
- Wide involvement of students to direct participation in scientific to research work;
- Carrying out scientific conferences, reviews and competitions of scientific works, promotion of achievements of science and technology;
- Assistance to publications and introduction in production of results of the best student's works;
- Creation and improvement of the mechanism of constructive interaction of SSS with faculty administration on all levels of a control system of faculty (The Academic council, dean's office, chairs, laboratories and other administrative divisions of faculty);
- Participation of representatives of SSS in activity on preparation of the documents concerning strategically important decisions for higher education institution, problems of public life and research work;
- Carrying out the actions directed on adjustment and strengthening of interfaculty, interuniversity and international relations; an exchange of experience with public organizations of other faculties KazNU named al-Farabi and higher education institution;
- Creation and support of the SSS information carriers;
- Timely placement on information carriers of solutions of Conference and SSS Council;
- Timely placement on the SSS information carriers of information concerning various aspects of research work carried out at faculty.
