Within the framework of the POSCO TJ Park Foundation program, ten students of 91传媒 Kazakh National University were awarded the "Scholarship for the Best Students in Asian Countries". It is awarded annually to the best students of 12 universities in 10 Asian countries.
The awarding ceremony was held at the 91传媒 library with the participation of the First Pro-Rector of KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbaev and General Director of POSCO International Corporation, Almaty Office Mr. Jeon Je Bong.Ten students of the faculties of journalism, law, international relations and the Higher School of Economics and Business distinguished themselves with excellent academic performance in the new academic year.
General Director of the Almaty Office Jeon Je Bong presented the winners with certificates and said that "the company will continue to support talented young people who strive to achieve great heights. By acquiring strong knowledge, they not only help themselves, but also the whole society.
Speaking with a congratulatory speech the First Vice-rector of KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbaev also emphasized that the university for many years fruitfully cooperates with 45 leading universities of South Korea. Academic mobility programs for students and teachers are implemented, there is an active exchange of experience in the scientific and educational activities, joint research in various projects. This year 22 students from South Korea are studying in KazNU at the faculties of international relations, oriental studies and pre-university department. In turn the scholarship holders on behalf of all the students thanked the representatives of Posco for the provided financial support and emphasized that Posco was one of the first industrial corporations, which saw the incredible potential of the Asian region.
"It's no secret that not all talented people in these countries have the opportunity to get higher education. There can be various reasons for this, but mostly it's the prohibitive cost of tuition. But now, thanks to assistance provided by the foundation of the company founder Park Tae-joon, it doesn't seem impossible to become a real specialist in your field. Personally for me the Asia Posellowship program is not just a financial assistance, but an outstretched hand in climbing to the top, a gesture of goodwill. Being the kind of leader this company believes in is a real responsibility. It's the realization that now I too have the opportunity to extend that hand to those who need it. And the more the better. Only this way, together can we build a happy future", - shared her opinion the winner of the competition, a third year student of journalism at KazNU Asem Omurzakova.
