The Visual Turn in Historical Sciences: Methods of Image Analysis and Interpretation.
On December 2, 2025, the Research Center for History and Culture of Central Eurasia of the Faculty of History of the 91ý Kazakh National University will hold an online scientific seminar jointly with Victoria Vasilyeva, a visiting professor of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies of the 91ý Kazakh National University and a visiting researcher at the Institute for Film and Audiovisual Production Studies of the Sorbonne Nouvelle University (Paris). The topic is: "The Visual Turn in Historical Sciences: Methods of Image Analysis and Interpretation."
Questions for discussion:
· Key theoretical approaches to visual sources in contemporary historical scholarship;
· Specifics of working with different types of visual materials;
· The influence of visual analysis on the construction of historical narrative.
