“A Nation with Abai Will Never Lose Its Way”
On December 5, 2025, a literary and educational meeting was held in the Red Hall with faculty members and students of the Faculties of Mechanics and Mathematics, as well as Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence. The guest of honor was the renowned poet Alibek Shegebay, a laureate of the International “Alash” Literary Prize and a member of the Unions of Journalists and Writers of Kazakhstan, known for transforming Abai’s “Words of Edification” into poetic form.
The event was organized by the creative association named after Kassym Amanzholov, along with the departments of Computational Sciences and Statistics, Information Systems, student organizations of the faculty, and the Farabi Library.
The main goal of the event was to promote the spiritual heritage of Abai Kunanbayev — a thinker of both national and universal significance — and to deepen understanding of his concept of the “Perfect Human” (Tolyk Adam), while fostering national values and spiritual renewal among the younger generation. The event was also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 — Quality Education, within the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings framework).
The meeting was attended by well-known poets and scholars, including Bauyrzhan Karabekov, Askar Duisenbi, Bakytzhan Aldiyar, Bekzhan Ashirbayev, as well as department heads and faculty members.
During the event, first-year students performed poems inspired by Abai’s works and sang songs. The guest answered questions from the audience, encouraged young people to read more and pursue quality education, and performed songs accompanied by guitar.
At the end of the event, participants took commemorative photos and expressed their gratitude for the meaningful and inspiring evening.
Abai’s words are a mirror of the nation, and his legacy is an inexhaustible treasure. Even a single line — “You too are a brick in this world, find your place and contribute” — can serve as a lifelong guiding principle. A nation with Abai will never lose its way. Let us remain faithful to his legacy!
