Strategic Partnership between 91ý Kazakh National University and Peking University in Legal Education and Research

On December 5, 2025, the Faculty of Law of 91ý Kazakh National University hosted an important event with the participation of representatives from Peking University. The meeting was organized by the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law.
During the visit, the delegation was welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Ualikhan Akhatov, who emphasized the importance of bilateral academic cooperation. On behalf of Peking University, remarks were delivered by Hao Rundong (Director of the Political Department of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice) and Tang Jinnan (Secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School of Peking University). Both sides expressed their intention to expand joint projects in legal education and scientific research.
From the KazNU side, the discussion was joined by the faculty leadership and leading scholars: Yerbol Alimkulov, Saida Asanova, Guldana Kuanaliyeva, Alua Ibraeva, Bakhytzhan Kalymbek, Kanat Kozhabek, Gulnur Rasheva, and Aynash Yesekeyeva. They discussed the prospects for the development of legal studies and potential areas for joint academic initiatives.
As part of the program, a bilateral memorandum was signed between the two universities. The document provides for student exchanges, joint scientific research, implementation of international projects, and the development of legal education programs.
Following the official session, the delegation visited key university facilities, including the Chinese-Kazakh Center for Legal Research, the Farabi Hub innovation platform, and the “Farabi” University Library. The guests highly praised the university’s scientific capacity and digital infrastructure.
This cooperation, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16, is expected to strengthen academic ties between the leading universities of Kazakhstan and China and contribute to the advancement of regional legal research.
