Successful defense of master's theses by young researchers in aquatic ecosystems
On December 18, 2025, Igilik Rauan and Zhazira Aibekkyzy, master's students in the specialty "7M08401 – Fisheries and Industrial Fisheries," successfully defended their master's theses.
Igilik Rauan's thesis was "Study of the population structure and spatial distribution of bream (Abramis brama) in the Alakol Lake," and Zhazira Aibekkyzy's was "Study of the Growth of Caspian Seals (Pusa caspica Gmelin, 1788)."
These studies are important for assessing the state of aquatic ecosystems and the dynamics of their bioresources. Igilik Rauan's work allows for a detailed study of the bream population, identifying patterns in its spatial distribution and structure, which is particularly relevant for developing sustainable fisheries strategies and preserving the ecosystems of Lake Alakol. Zhazira Sydykova's research reveals the growth patterns of Caspian seals, which contribute to the conservation of rare species and the maintenance of the Caspian Sea's biodiversity.

Congratulating the young scientists on their successful defense, we acknowledge the significant contribution of their work to sustainable water resource management, biodiversity conservation, and the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal 14, "Life of Marine and Aquatic Resources." Such research helps Kazakhstan preserve its natural heritage, rationally use water resources, and build a scientific community focused on sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
