A meeting was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University under the chairmanship of Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Ilyas. The main topic of the agenda was the implementation of the project of the Industrial Center for Technological Competencies (OCTC) and the discussion of mechanisms for creating an Alliance of R&D centers based on the country's leading university.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry, university management, experts from the manufacturing sector and representatives of industry associations.

The meeting was moderated by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, ViceRector for Research and Innovation at KazNU.

Opening the event, he informed the participants that on February 2 of this year, at a meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Kuantaevich Akkenzhenov, the concept of creating an Industrial Center for Technological Competencies (OCTC) for the fuel and energy complex of Kazakhstan was approved.

"The proposed model of the OCTC's work involves the formation of a single technological ecosystem combining the research potential of universities, business opportunities and government priorities. One of the main tools of the center will be the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies for the analysis, formation and support of investment projects in the energy sector. In addition, the center will work towards ensuring technology transfer and training of a new generation of engineering personnel",- the Vicerector emphasized. He also added that the university is ready to provide full scientific, analytical and infrastructural support for the practical implementation of this initiative.

In his speech, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Ilyas emphasized that the strategic goal is to create an industry alliance of R&D centers for the development of all areas of the fuel and energy complex on the basis of the OCTC, including areas of digitalization, automation, the introduction of innovative solutions and the development of technological sovereignty of the industry. "The al-Farabi Kazakh National University was chosen as a venue for a reason",- the Vice Minister noted.

The research status of the university, the scientific and innovative base, including the unique computing cluster "Supercomputer", were taken into account. The KazNU-based alliance project will cover ten important areas: from traditional generation and electric grids to clean energy, deep coal processing and cybersecurity".

Dinara Begali, an expert of the Committee for the Development of Competence Centers and Human Resources of the industry association, Serik Amangaleev, a representative of Edil-Oral LLP, and Artem Koval, Technical Director of CSAI Group LLP, also spoke at the meeting.
