KazNU strengthens partnership with Ca'Foscari University
Alina Galeyeva, Member of the Board and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, met with a delegation from Italy headed by Antonio Marcomini, Vice Rector of the University of Venice Ca'Foscari, at Al–Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event was also attended by the cultural attache of the Italian Embassy, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Kazakhstan Edoardo Crisafulli.
The visit began with an introductory campus tour, during which the guests visited the Supercomputing Center, the Center for Remote Sensing of the Earth and the innovative laboratories of the IT-technopark.

During the official meeting, Alina Galeyeva stressed that KazNU is actively strengthening ties with Italian universities and research centers. The Vice-Rector said that to date, 11 agreements have been signed with leading universities in Italy, including the universities of Sapienza, Padua and Pisa. According to her, over the past three years, 47 students and 28 teachers of KazNU have completed internships in this country. She highlighted the successful experience of implementing a double degree program with the Sapienza University of Rome and stressed that the University has a ten-year history of partnership with Ca'Foscari University, including Erasmus+ programs and work on a unique translation of the book "The travels of Marco Polo" into Kazakh.

Vice Rector Antonio Marcomini spoke about the potential of the University of Venice Ca'Foscari, founded in 1868. He noted that the university is Italy's leader in economics, linguistics and the humanities, teaching more than 23,000 students. The professor emphasized the strong school of Turkology and Oriental studies, expressing interest in expanding interdisciplinary research and strengthening ties within the Silk Road University Network (SUN).

In his speech, Edoardo Crisafulli emphasized the importance of cultural dialogue. He expressed confidence that academic cooperation would become a solid foundation for the promotion of the Italian language and culture in Kazakhstan, as well as contribute to the popularization of the Kazakh heritage in Europe.

Following the meeting, the parties discussed new areas and prospects for partnership, the development of joint double-degree and academic exchange programs.
