This event was organized during pedagogical practice and carried out by E. Turarova, a master's student of the Biology educational program, under the scientific and methodological guidance of E. T. Bayaristanova, a senior lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Education Management.
Within the framework of the round table, students conducted awareness and informational activities on the university campus addressing women’s leadership in science, gender equality in research projects, adaptation of young women in academic environments, as well as international experience and cooperation.
The purpose of the event was to promote the achievements of women and girls in science, support gender equality, increase young girls’ interest in science, and share the experiences of successful women scientists.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11) is an international observance aimed at ensuring full and equal participation of women and girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
This day is closely linked with two key Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations:
• SDG 4: Quality Education — aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education. Equal access of girls to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is one of the key indicators of this goal. Equal educational opportunities form the foundation of future scientific achievements.
• SDG 5: Gender Equality — aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Increasing women's participation in science is not only a matter of social justice but also an essential condition for scientific progress.
