The results of the curatorial hour conducted by 1st year students of the Accounting and Auditing Department on the topic "Decent work and economic growth"
As part of the curator hour, first-year students of the educational program “Accounting and Audit” discussed the topic “Decent Work and Economic Growth,” which is one of the most relevant issues of the modern economy. This topic is directly related to Sustainable Development Goal No. 8 adopted by the United Nations and reflects the global development vector of the international community.
During the meeting, students noted that economic growth is traditionally measured by quantitative indicators such as GDP, investment level, and production volume. However, modern economic science increasingly emphasizes the importance of human-centered qualitative growth.
Decent work includes not only employment opportunities but also fair wages, safe working conditions, social protection, and equal opportunities for professional development. Economic growth, in turn, should be sustainable, innovative, and aimed at improving the quality of life.
Participants concluded that without these conditions, economic growth may be accompanied by social inequality and instability.
The discussion on the relationship between labor productivity and wages attracted particular interest. Students noted that income growth stimulates demand, contributing to business development and production expansion.
The following issues were discussed:
• impact of digitalization and automation on employment;
• youth unemployment challenges;
• role of business social responsibility in sustainable economy.
Students emphasized that digital transformation creates jobs while requiring higher qualifications.
Participants concluded that sustainable growth requires cooperation between government, business, and education.
Decent work is a key foundation of economic stability and sustainable development in modern global economic conditions.
