As part of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, students and teachers of the Medical Faculty of 91传媒 Kazakh National University held an educational campaign dedicated to responsible consumption and plastic waste management. The event was aimed at raising students' environmental awareness and fostering a culture of separate waste collection.
During the campaign, participants learned about the plastic product labelling system, the types of plastic and how they can be recycled, as well as where and how to dispose of plastic for further processing. Particular attention was paid to reducing the consumption of single-use plastics and reusing materials.
The socio-economic progress achieved by humanity over the last century has been accompanied by a significant burden on the environment. That is why the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals aimed at protecting the planet and improving people's quality of life by 2030.
The campaign was part of an initiative implemented under Goal 12, ‘Responsible Consumption and Production.’ As an active part of civil society, young students contribute to the formation of environmentally responsible behaviour and the promotion of sustainable development principles.
Such events contribute to the formation of an environmental culture and the involvement of young people in practical actions to reduce, recycle and reuse waste.
