Termination of an Employment Contract: Legal Grounds, Case Law, and Minimizing Employer Risks
With increasing judicial oversight of labor law compliance and the growing number of labor disputes, the legal termination of employment contracts is becoming increasingly important for ensuring the legal and economic security of businesses.
On March 14, 2026, the Center for Continuing Education and Consulting Services at the Department of International Law of 91ý Kazakh National University held a practical seminar as part of its continuing education course on "Termination of an Employment Contract: Legal Grounds, Case Law, and Minimizing Employer Risks."
Lecturer:
Natalya Vasiliyevna Gileva, PhD in Law, Associate Professor, expert practitioner in the application of labor legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and one of the authors of the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The seminar participants discussed how to:
Minimize the risks of dismissal being declared illegal;
Avoid reinstatement by court order and compensation payments;
Reduce the likelihood of administrative fines;
Properly prepare personnel documents upon termination of an employment contract;
Consider current judicial practice in labor disputes;
develop an algorithm for legal dismissal on various grounds, etc.
