Students Visit a Juvenile Correctional Facility as Part of the Course “Formation of Anti-Corruption Culture”
On March 13, 2026, a field study visit was organized for students of academic group YUP-224 in order to implement interactive learning methods and integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The event was conducted within the framework of the course “Formation of Anti-Corruption Culture” and the activities of the “Law and Order” Project Office.
The visit took place at Institution No. 11 of the Committee of the Criminal Executive System in Almaty — a juvenile correctional facility.
It should be noted that in December 2025 the institution relocated to a new building, and the students became the first academic group to visit the facility after its relocation. The significance of this institution lies in the fact that it is currently the only juvenile correctional facility in the Republic of Kazakhstan, operating in accordance with modern international standards for the detention and resocialization of juvenile offenders.
During the visit, the staff of the institution introduced the students to the organizational structure of the juvenile correctional facility, as well as to the educational and preventive work carried out with juvenile offenders and the conditions of their detention. The students visited classrooms, the library, the dining hall, sleeping quarters, the long-term visitation room, and the sports hall, which provided them with a clear understanding of the living and educational environment within the facility.
Such field educational activities contribute to the development of practical understanding of the criminal executive system, the strengthening of legal awareness and anti-corruption culture, and the promotion of respect for the principles of legality and the rule of law among future legal professionals.
The organizers express their sincere gratitude to the leadership and staff of Institution No. 11 of the Committee of the Criminal Executive System in Almaty for their support in organizing the visit, their openness, professionalism, and willingness to share their practical experience with students. Such initiatives significantly contribute to strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and public authorities and to developing the professional competencies of future legal specialists.
The event was organized by Roza Ergalyevna Sagalbaeva, Assistant Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Faculty of Law, 91ý Kazakh National University.
