The Head of State visited 91ý Kazakh National University

During his working visit to Almaty, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev got acquainted with the scientific potential of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Chairman of the Board Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev presented the Farabi Hub Center for Innovative Products and High-tech Projects to the Head of State.

The hub was created as a modern platform for the introduction of innovative developments in the real sector of the economy. It implements projects in the fields of creative industries, artificial intelligence and startups. As a result of the center's work, 300 new jobs have been created and more than $20 million in investments have been attracted.

The center houses the research sites of the technology corporations ZTE, BASF, Binlin, as well as a number of leading foreign scientific organizations. In addition, KazNU research institutes operate here.

The President was informed that the university is successfully implementing four major projects with a total cost of 1 billion 250 million tenge.

The Head of state was shown a mock-up of a microsatellite developed jointly with the Northwestern Polytechnic University of China. Scientists from the two universities are also working on the creation of the NKSAT satellite, designed to measure the Earth's gravitational field, radiation levels, and geological exploration.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also got acquainted with the activities of the laboratory "Remote Sensing Technologies and their Applications", established jointly with the Academy of Sciences of the People's Republic of China. Based on the analysis of satellite data, the laboratory is studying climate and environmental changes in Central Asia.

The Head of State was presented with the projects of the International Institute of Digital Technologies and Robotics and the Robotics Center, as well as the Kazakh-Singaporean Center for Quantum Technologies.

The visit to the al-Farabi Kazakh National University ended with an inspection of the supercomputer cluster. 23 million dollars of investments were attracted in its creation. The cluster significantly reduces the execution time of complex calculations and increases the efficiency of scientific research, as well as opens up wide opportunities for training specialists in the field of IT and artificial intelligence.
