A Platform for the Convergence of Information and Experience: Presentation of the “Sunqar” Project

SDG-17 The presentation of the convergent radio project “Sunqar,” implemented through a joint initiative of Shalqar Radio and the Faculty of Journalism at 91ý Kazakh National University, was held in Almaty. This project is regarded as a new initiative that meets the modern demands of the media landscape by integrating education with practical experience. The event brought together leading industry experts, veteran journalists, experienced staff from Shalqar Radio, as well as university faculty members and students. During the meeting, participants exchanged views on current trends in journalism, the transformation of the radio industry, and the training of young professionals. A key feature of the “Sunqar” project is its implementation in a convergent format. This means that traditional radio broadcasting methods are combined with the capabilities of digital media, enabling the creation of innovative content formats. Consequently, students are not limited to theoretical knowledge but are given the opportunity to develop practical professional skills. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Kanat Auesbay; Deputy Dean for Science, International Relations, and Innovation, Altyn Bakashkyzy; Deputy Dean for Social Affairs and Educational Work, Nurlyaiym Tursynbaikyzy; Head of the Department of Electronic Media and Press, Aigerim Bolatkhankyzy; as well as the team of Shalqar Radio led by Editor-in-Chief Bolatbek Tolepbergen — journalists Zhanar Orazymbet, Gulbanu Abenkyzy, Gulmira Nalibai; radio journalism specialist, associate professor of the faculty, Candidate of Philological Sciences Zhidergul Abdizhadilkyzy; and publisher, journalist, senior lecturer of the faculty, Ermakhan Shaikhy. The project serves as a creative laboratory for aspiring journalists. Participants gain hands-on experience in hosting broadcasts, producing audio content, conducting interviews, and writing news, while also learning modern approaches to content delivery. In addition, guidance from experienced professionals plays a crucial role in shaping the next generation of media specialists. In today’s media environment, there is a growing demand for versatile and multi-skilled professionals. In this regard, the “Sunqar” project is a significant initiative that strengthens the link between education and industry, enhancing the competitiveness of future journalists. This platform provides young writers with opportunities to test their abilities and unlock their creative potential. In conclusion, this project represents an important step not only for students but also for the overall development of national radio journalism. Such initiatives contribute to revitalizing the media sector and fostering the production of high-quality content.
