Telegram bot that converts photos into 3D models has been launched in KazNU
The DigitalEgiz laboratory at the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence of al-Farabi Kazakh National University has launched a unique telegram bot that can transform any photo into a 3D model in just a few minutes.
Initially, the new tool was developed to accelerate the laboratory team's own engineering tasks, in particular, to quickly prepare objects needed in complex projects to create "digital twins", However, after being convinced of the stable operation of the system, the specialists decided to provide this tool free of charge to students and teachers for use in educational and practical activities.

The solution is implemented on the computing power of the ASUS Ascent GX10, equipped with the NVIDIA GB10 Grace Blackwell chip. During processing, the system determines the volume of an object from a single image and completely recreates its shape. Currently, the service is available at @img_2_3d_bot and is effectively used to visualize educational materials, create 3D models for presentations, and prepare the first layouts of new projects.

According to the project manager, assistant Professor Gulshat Amirkhanova, after internal testing, it was decided to recommend the program for interdisciplinary projects - not only for IT specialists, but also for engineers, media specialists and researchers in the field of natural sciences.

It should be borne in mind that the bot is still working in test mode, so the quality of the result directly depends on the clarity of the image, lighting and the purity of the background. In addition, the system is designed for visual representation of objects and is not suitable for reconstructions that require scientifically accurate measurements.

The DigitalEgiz team continues to improve the service based on user feedback. It is expected that in the future, the bot will become an important digital tool in the project activities of university students.
