The indicators of university science are analyzed

A joint meeting of the Academic Council and the Scientific and Technical Council was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. At the meeting, the results of the university's research and innovation activities for 2025 were analyzed, and priorities for the university's development as a research center were identified.

The main report was delivered by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, ViceRector for Research and Innovation, who elaborated on the financial and statistical indicators of the past year. According to him, in 2025, the total amount of funding for research and development amounted to 16.27 billion tenge. 377 scientific projects have been implemented at the university, 116 of which are new initiatives. Today, the university employs about 1,400 scientists, and the number of young researchers who have defended their PhD degrees has reached 234.

During the reporting period, a significant increase in publication activity was recorded: the number of international publications exceeded 2,000. The citation index was 4047, and the FWCI index rose to 1.32. This is a direct proof of the high demand for the work of KazNU scientists in the global scientific community. The university's scientific and editorial infrastructure has also been strengthened: the center has been established, bringing together 45 editors and 488 qualified experts from around the world (USA, Great Britain, Russia, etc.).

In the field of innovation, the university has won 52 patents and launched 9 new startup projects. Direct income from scientific and innovative activities exceeded 432.5 million tenge. In his speech, the Vice-rector stressed the importance of strengthening international partnership not only with recognized scientists, but also with researchers from new regions and research centers.

During the meeting, a special "Roadmap" was presented, containing mechanisms for achieving the set indicators. The document provides for an increase in the number of international projects, an expansion of the network of accredited laboratories and the development of small innovative enterprises. Aliya Aktymbaeva, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, made an additional report on the analysis of scientific results.

Chairman of the Board Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev recalled the instructions of the Head of State on the integration of science with the real sector of the economy. "Scientific research should not be limited to the walls of laboratories; they are designed to solve specific technological and socio-economic problems. Every scientist should be responsible for the practical application of their work in production",- said the head of the university.

Following the meeting, important decisions were made aimed at improving the effectiveness of scientific activities and strengthening KazNU's position in the global academic space.
