Roundtable discussion on "Responsible Consumption and Production" within the framework of SDG-12

On  On April 6th, 2026, faculty members of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​at 91ý KazNU—A.T. Murzatayeva, A.B. Abylkassova, A.N. Akhmedova, N.A. Suttibayev, N.B. Mombekova, A.S. Rezhep, I.V. Blavatsynskaya, and G.A. Orazaeva and a Professor Madeniyetuly Yerkebulan (Leeds University, London)—held a roundtable discussion on "Responsible Consumption and Production" within the framework of SDG-12 and the university's project to collaborate with the UN to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The event began at 12:00 PM and was moderated by A.B. Abylkassova: After welcoming and introducing the participants, the main part included presentations by speakers from nine student teams of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. They covered aspects of sustainable consumption, such as the impact of everyday habits on global sustainability (Maula Abu Naim Md Shafiul), efficient use of natural resources (Ilyasova Ayazhan), waste management and recycling (Nurlankyzy Adema, Mukatov Arsen, and Idbiminov Ilyar), food waste (Akkenzheeva Meruert), the environmental impact of production (Zayirova Dilyara and Imankalieva Raushan), responsible consumption (Kazbekkyzy Inkar and Dosan Elnaz), sustainable use of resources (Dinmukhamedova Dana and Buratova Laura), and more.

Professor Madeniyetuly Yerkebulan served as the keynote speaker.

The interactive quiz "Bio-Genius Quiz" was also available under the teams "Constellation," "Determination," "Racoon Police Department," "Regeneration," "Conservation," "Jesters," "Achilles," "Admiration," and "Devotion" competed in a knowledge competition. Akhmet Nursadykov won the top place. First-year students of biotechnology and biomedicine, including an international student from Bangladesh, unanimously emphasized the need for responsible consumption in everyday life in Kazakhstan; Akhmet Nursadykov and Nuray Omirzak presented a video survey about plastic bottles. The final session included a summary of the results, awards ceremony, reflection, and a photo shoot.
