Moral Values in Abai’s ‘Words of Wisdom’

On March 16, 2026, an open seminar titled “Moral Values in the ‘Words of Wisdom’ of Abai Kunanbayev” was held in Room 229 of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at the Non-Profit Joint-Stock Company 91ý Kazakh National University. The event aimed to develop students’ understanding, within the educational program “6B07201 – Pharmaceutical Production Technology,” of the key moral principles reflected in Abai’s legacy, including kindness, justice, mutual respect, and personal responsibility.
The seminar was organized by the teaching staff of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Substances, Natural Compounds and Polymers: Associate Professors Kipchakbayeva A.K. and Litvinenko Yu.A., Senior Lecturer Alikulov A.Zh., as well as first-year doctoral student of the educational program 8D07105 – “Chemical Technology of Organic Substances,” Gappar A.G.
During the seminar, participants examined and discussed the moral ideas presented in Abai’s “Words of Wisdom,” focusing on values such as honesty, diligence, justice, and the importance of harmonious human relationships. Special attention was paid to the role of ethical norms in personal development and their significance in modern social life.
Students actively participated in the discussion, analyzing contemporary moral issues through the lens of Abai’s philosophy, sharing their own perspectives, and emphasizing the importance of respect and responsibility in interpersonal relations.
The event made a significant contribution to the development of students’ moral culture and is directly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 “Quality Education” (promoting value-oriented and holistic education) and SDG 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” (strengthening principles of justice, ethics, and social responsibility).
