SDG-4 “Music in Life, Cinema, and Television” – this was the topic of an engaging master class conducted by invited professor Togzhan Umurzakkyzy Ospanova from the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory for students of the Journalism Faculty at 91ý Kazakh National University.
Music plays a significant role in our lives: as an essential part of the spiritual sphere, as an art form, as a tool for societal education and aesthetic development, and as an expressive artistic medium in cinema and television. Prof. T.U. Ospanova provided a brief historical overview of musical creation, starting from the Ancient East, Ancient Greece and Rome, and the Middle Ages, moving through the Renaissance and Baroque periods, then to Classicism, the Age of Enlightenment, Romanticism, and into the 20th and 21st centuries with contemporary music. Each period was illustrated through the works of composers, with every era reflecting the destiny of great musicians through its unique musical style.
Prof. Ospanova paid special attention to composers who created music specifically for cinema and television: A. Zhubanov, E. Brusilovsky, N. Tlendiyev, A. Zatsepin, T. Mukhamedzhanov. Their music featured in well-known films and programs such as “Nash Mily Doctor,” “The Girl-Jigit,” “Angel in a Tyubeteyka,” “Kyz-Zhibek,” “Aldar-Kose,” and many others, which have become classics of Kazakh screen art.
Such master classes broaden students’ horizons, enrich their spiritual world, and open them to the beauty of art. The memory of this meeting will remain in their minds along with memorable photographs.
