Farabi Forum 2026: International Academic Dialogue on the Future of the Economy

On April 7–8, 2026, the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference, dedicated to issues of sustainable economic development in the context of global change, was held at 91ý Kazakh National University as part of the International Farabi Forum. The event brought together scholars, experts, faculty members, doctoral candidates, and students, serving as a platform for discussing the challenges of the digital economy and seeking new solutions.

As part of the forum, a session was held on the topic: “Global Challenges of the Modern Era and Strategic Priorities: Human Capital, Digitalization, and Inclusive Development in Kazakhstan.” The session was opened by the Head of the Department of Economics, Ph.D. in Economics, Professor G.R. Daulieva, who emphasized the relevance of scientific dialogue in the context of global transformations and the growing role of digitalization.

The participation of foreign scholars and international doctoral students added particular significance to the conference. This is precisely what ensured a deep and multifaceted scientific dialogue, allowing for a comparison of international experience in the fields of digitalization, cluster development, and sustainable growth.

A highlight was the presentation by Professor David Celletti of the University of Padua (Italy), who presented an analysis of industrial clusters as drivers of regional development. Using the example of northeastern Italy, he demonstrated how effective collaboration between business, science, and the state contributes to the formation of a competitive and sustainable economy.

The presentations by representatives of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service (Uzbekistan) served as a logical continuation of the international agenda. In their presentations, R.M. Kurbanova and Z.I. Sattarova focused on the modernization of service enterprises and the development of cultural tourism. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of digital technologies, the transformation of business processes, and customer orientation as key factors in effectiveness.

Nariman J. Hajiyev, a researcher from Azerbaijan, continued the discussion on the digital transformation of public administration. In his presentation, he explored the impact of e-services on socioeconomic development, emphasizing the importance of e-government in enhancing transparency and reducing administrative barriers.

The presentations by doctoral students, including international ones, deserve special attention. Their research covered issues related to the development of the digital economy, the implementation of artificial intelligence, and the transformation of human capital, highlighting the high level of youth engagement in the global scientific agenda.

The scientific discussions continued in a practical setting on April 8 during a workshop, where a lively dialogue took place between the academic community and business representatives.

The presentation by D. Tuleshova, Chief Operating Officer of Viled Group, on the topic “Digital Transformation of Operations as a Driver of Sustainable Growth in the Corporate Sector” sparked particular interest among the young audience. Her presentation was rich in real-world case studies, practical examples, and modern approaches to business process management. Young participants actively engaged in the discussion, asked questions, and showed keen interest in the potential applications of digital technologies in their future professional careers.

In turn, the presentation by R. Kabylkayratkyzy, coordinator of the Institute of Economics at the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, on “Key Considerations in Preparing Applications for Research Projects” sparked a lively discussion among faculty, researchers, and young scholars. In addition to practical recommendations on preparing competitive applications, special attention was paid to issues of academic and scientific ethics, research transparency, proper presentation of results, and adherence to the principles of integrity in scientific activity. The discussion was substantive, professionally rich, and resonated widely with the audience.

Additionally, as part of the academic exchange, Z.I. Sattarova and R.Zh. Kurbanova (Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service) conducted lectures and practical sessions with students on the course “Global Economic Development” for a total of 6 hours on April 7, 2026. The sessions focused on current issues in global economic development and were accompanied by analytical materials and examples from international practice. The students showed high engagement, actively participated in discussions, and demonstrated interest in the comparative analysis of economic processes in different countries.

Overall, the conference took place in an atmosphere of open dialogue, exchange of ideas, and professional growth. The Farabi Forum 2026 once again confirmed its role as an international platform uniting academia, business, and youth to jointly seek solutions amid global economic transformations.
