On April 2, 2026, the Higher School of Economics and Business of 91ý Kazakh National University in Almaty hosted the International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Researchers “Farabi Alemi”.

As part of the conference, Section No. 1 on the topic “Financial Security and Sustainable Development: Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization, and External Economic Turbulence” was successfully organized.

The aim of the section was to develop scientific perspectives, exchange opinions, and formulate practical recommendations based on current research conducted by students, master’s students, and young researchers in the fields of financial security, digital transformation, and the application of artificial intelligence technologies.

In total, 158 scientific papers were submitted to the section, including 3 from foreign universities and 11 from universities across Kazakhstan. During the plenary and sectional sessions, 21 presentations by students and master’s students were delivered.

The presented studies focused on the following key issues:

• ensuring financial security;

• application of artificial intelligence technologies in the financial sector;

• digitalization of financial institutions;

• financial risk management;

• combating fraud and cyber threats;

• big data analysis and forecasting.

Based on the presentations, participants noted that in the context of external economic instability, financial security is a crucial condition for the sustainable development of Kazakhstan’s economy.

It was also emphasized that digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies create new opportunities to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness of the national financial system. At the same time, digital transformation requires strengthening data protection measures and countering modern cyber threats.

Following the section’s work, the following recommendations were adopted:

• active integration of FinTech, artificial intelligence, and data analytics courses into the educational process;

• expansion of AI applications in financial risk management and fraud detection;

• strengthening cooperation between higher education institutions and banks, financial organizations, IT companies, and government bodies;

• development of international cooperation within Central Asia and China;

• formation of digital competencies among future specialists.

Conference participants noted that the digital transformation of Kazakhstan’s economy opens up significant opportunities for growth and sustainable development, while also increasing the importance of financial and digital literacy among the population.

In addition, participants highlighted the important role of universities in advancing research activities. It was noted that such platforms provide young researchers with opportunities to exchange experience, discuss new ideas, and establish connections with the international scientific community. A number of presentations were based on practical case studies and demonstrated the effectiveness of implementing digital solutions in the financial sector.

Participants also focused on the development of startup projects, the formation of innovative ecosystems, and the commercialization of scientific results. The need to strengthen cooperation between universities, business, and the government was repeatedly emphasized. It was noted that joint projects in this area facilitate the implementation of scientific developments in the real sector of the economy.

Overall, the conference was organized at a high level and served as an effective platform for demonstrating scientific potential, acquiring new knowledge, and establishing professional connections. Such events make a significant contribution to the development of the country’s intellectual potential, the training of competitive specialists, and the stimulation of innovative development.
