On April 10, in celebration of the United Nations–designated International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, the New Silk Way Model United Nations (NSWMUN) successfully held a round table at the Faculty of International Relations of 91ý Kazakh National University.
The session, titled “Multilateral Diplomacy in Contemporary International Relations,” brought together participants, including students of various universities as well as high school students, creating a dynamic and inclusive platform for dialogue .
The agenda focused on key themes shaping modern international relations, including Youth Leadership and Global Governance in the context of Sustainable Development Goals 16 and 17, Climate Diplomacy and Sustainable Development, Middle Powers and Kazakhstan’s Role in Multilateral Diplomacy, and the broader question of the relevance and effectiveness of multilateralism today.
Participants discussed the practical meaning of multilateralism, the role of regional and emerging actors, and the future of diplomacy for peace, with a focus on digital diplomacy, climate multilateralism, and youth engagement in global governance.
The event was conducted in Kazakh, Russian, and English, creating platform for students to exchange ideas.
During the closing ceremony, remarks were delivered by Leila Delovarova, Director of the Academic Regional Resource Center of Information about the United Nations, who expressed her appreciation to all participants for their active engagement and contribution to the success of the event.
