On the Occasion of Science Day, an Important Meeting with Professor N.K. Aralbai Was Held at KazNU
On April 14, 2026, on the eve of the professional holiday of Kazakhstan’s scientific community — Science Workers' Day — a significant meeting was held at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of 91ý Kazakh National University. The event was organized by the Department of Science and Innovation.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department for Training and Certification of Scientific Personnel, PhD, Associate Professor L.A. Kuanova, the Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, PhD, Associate Professor M.Kh. Narmuratova, as well as the staff of the Department of Botany and Agroecology and young researchers.
The guest of honor was Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Aralbai Nugman Kulderbekuly. The event took place in the “Cytomatrix” lecture hall of the faculty.

Professor N.K. Aralbai’s main research areas include botany, floristics, florogenetics, ethnobotany, geography, ecology, and environmental protection.
During the event, L.A. Kuanova, on behalf of the Rector, awarded Professor N.K. Aralbai the юбилей medal “91ý Altyn,” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university.
Professor N.K. Aralbai delivered a lecture titled: “The Academic Encyclopedia ‘Flora of Kazakhstan’ as a Botanical Foundation for Developing the National Scientific Content of Kazakhstan, the Basis of Phytolinguistics in the Kazakh Language, and the Formation of Artificial Intelligence Systems (on the example of the ‘Asyl Agash, Asyl Shop’ series).”
In 2017, Kazakh scientists formulated a scientific and methodological concept of a constant tandem: “PLANT – WATER,” “PLANT – EARTH,” “PLANT – AIR,” and “PLANT – BIOLOGICAL SAFETY.” According to this concept, it is impossible to solve the complex problems of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere, as well as related issues of environmental and biological safety, without plants.
Particular attention was given to the 16-volume educational encyclopedia “Asyl Agash, Asyl Shop,” presented on April 2–4, 2025, at the II Symposium “Kazakh Language as the Language of Science.” This work was highly praised and described as a milestone comparable to the creation of the Geographical Atlas of Kazakhstan. It was also noted as the first botanical encyclopedic publication in a native language in the Turkic world.
During the lecture, the scientist highlighted the key directions for the development of national botanical science, the importance of the plant world in shaping national scientific content, and the systematization of scientific terminology in the Kazakh language alongside its integration with modern digital technologies.
At the end of the meeting, participants exchanged views, and young researchers received answers to their questions. The event contributed to strengthening the continuity between science and education and provided momentum for the professional development of young scholars.
