On April 6, 2026, lecturers of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Kakisheva N.M. and Sanyarova N.S., together with second-year students of the “Technical Physics” program (group TF-247, group leader – Baimurat Anar) and the “Industrial Electronics and Control Systems” program (group leader – Sagingaliyev Yersultan), held an educational event titled “Outstanding Scientists of Kazakhstan.” The event was organized within the framework of SDG 4 – “Quality Education.”
The purpose of the meeting was to pay tribute to Kazakhstani researchers and to reflect on their invaluable contribution to the development of not only national but also global science. The moderator of the event was Temirbay Yernar, who successfully fulfilled his role by skillfully maintaining the audience’s engagement.
During the program, brief presentations about the lives of Kazakhstani scientists were delivered, accompanied by visual materials. Special attention was given to physicists, highlighting key scientific discoveries and significant historical events. It was encouraging to note that many of these figures are already well known among the younger generation.
An important part of the event was watching a fragment of the documentary film “At the Turning Point of Epochs,” dedicated to Umirbek Arislanovich Zholdasbekov — an outstanding mechanical scientist, academician, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and former rector of KazNU, whose 95th anniversary was celebrated by the university this year. In her opening remarks, Nurzada Tursumbayeva expressed both pride in the achievements of the great scientist and sorrow over his premature passing, which was partly caused by health issues following the December events.
In the second part of the event, the moderator invited participants to test their knowledge in a game format. Students solved thematic crosswords and rebuses, recording their answers on a shared poster, while the most active participants received memorable prizes.
The event was held in an atmosphere of unity and genuine enthusiasm for their chosen field of study. One of the key outcomes was its educational impact: students were able to feel pride in national science and its contributors, appreciating their personal qualities and selfless dedication. Group photos taken as a keepsake will remind participants not only of their mentors but also of the honor of studying at KazNU — a university rich in great names and proud traditions.
