Discussion Platform “Public Opinion and Information Culture”
On April 14, 2026, as part of the discussion platform titled “Public Opinion and Information Culture,” the Department of Cybersecurity and Cryptology organized an insightful roundtable event. The main goal of the event was to foster information culture among young people, enhance media literacy, and develop critical thinking skills.
During the discussion, participants explored the characteristics of the modern information space, the ways misinformation and manipulation spread, and the importance of personal responsibility in the digital age. Special attention was given to filtering information flows on social media, verifying sources, and developing an analytical mindset without being driven by emotions.
Faculty members of the department spoke about the fundamentals of cybersecurity and explained ways to protect against online threats. The role of cryptology in modern society, as well as issues of data protection and privacy, were also discussed. Through practical examples, participants learned about phishing, malware, and the risks of personal data leaks.
The discussion platform was held in an interactive format, allowing students to freely express their opinions and compare different viewpoints. This contributed to the development of critical thinking skills and a culture of dialogue. By analyzing real-life scenarios, participants mastered effective methods for evaluating and interpreting information.
At the end of the event, the organizers emphasized that information culture is not only about knowledge but also about responsibility and conscious choice. In today’s society, it is important to understand that every individual is not only a consumer of information but also its distributor. Therefore, the ability to distinguish reliable information, maintain digital security, and follow ethical standards is one of the key requirements of modern life.
The discussion platform not only provided participants with new knowledge and experience but also made a significant contribution to improving their level of information literacy.
