An Open Lecture on Applied Qualitative Data Analysis Held at 91ý Kazakh National University

On March 25, 2026, an open lecture titled “Applied Qualitative Data Analysis: Experience in Using Software Tools” was held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of 91ý Kazakh National University.

The speaker was Ayagoz Auybakirova, a participant in the international research project SOLID. The lecture brought together undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students interested in developing research competencies.

The lecture covered contemporary approaches to qualitative data analysis, including methodological foundations and practical aspects of coding and interpretation. Special attention was given to the use of software tools, particularly MAXQDA, which is widely used for processing interviews, focus groups, and textual data.

The speaker shared her own research experience in the field of social work, including conducting comparative studies and working with empirical data in Central Asian countries. Examples of data structuring, code system development, and visualization of analysis results were presented.

The lecture generated strong engagement from the audience and included discussions of practical issues related to selecting analytical tools and ensuring the quality of data interpretation.

The event was organized by Gulnara Kenzhakimova, Candidate of Sociological Sciences and Deputy Head of the Department for Academic, Methodological, and Educational Work, and Zhanar Abdykalykova, a first-year doctoral student in the Social Work program.
