"Prevention of Bad Habits and Preservation of Youth Health" within the Framework of SDG 3
On April 17, 2026, a training seminar titled "Prevention of Bad Habits and Preservation of Youth Health" was held at the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. The event was conducted in an offline format and aimed at preventing harmful habits among young people, fostering a conscious attitude towards a healthy lifestyle, and raising the level of social responsibility among students.
The seminar was organized within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 -"Good Health and Well-being", and contributed to spreading knowledge about the negative impact of harmful habits on physical and mental health, as well as ways to overcome them in the youth environment.
The key areas of the event included discussion of the social, psychological and medical aspects of harmful habits, analysis of their negative impact on health and society, as well as consideration of the role of education and preventive work in shaping a healthy lifestyle. Special attention was paid to the importance of proper upbringing, social support and the formation of sustainable values among young people.
The seminar was attended by third-year students of the educational program 6В05108 - "Biomedicine" and senior lecturer Ussipbek Botagoz, as well as master's students from West Kazakhstan University named after Makhambet Utemisov, who actively participated in the discussion and shared their experiences and views on preventing harmful habits among youth.
The format of the event created an open and informative platform for dialogue, exchange of opinions and raising students' awareness about the issue of harmful habits. Participants actively engaged in discussions, asked questions and put forward proposals to strengthen preventive work at the university.
The seminar made a significant contribution to fostering a responsible attitude towards health among students and master's students, raising the level of social literacy, and promoting the ideas of sustainable development and a healthy lifestyle among young people.
