Second-year master’s students of the educational program “7M01602 – History and Religious Studies” of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University completed a scientific internship at the Republican Research Center for the Study of Traditional Civilizations of Central Asia, based at the Department of History of Kazakhstan, Faculty of History, 91ý Kazakh National University.
During the internship, the master’s students conducted an educational event for first-year students on the topic: “Secular School and Religious Beliefs: Where Are the Boundaries?” The event focused on актуal issues of modern pedagogy, particularly the principles of secular education within the school system, the interaction between the educational environment and students’ religious views, as well as the formation of tolerance and legal awareness among youth.
Within the framework of the meeting, key aspects of pedagogical practice in schools were discussed, including adherence to the principles of secular education, the role of teachers in developing critical thinking, and the importance of considering cultural and religious diversity in the educational process. The master’s students presented both theoretical approaches and practical case studies aimed at harmonizing educational standards with students’ personal beliefs.
Special attention was given to the development of pedagogical competencies of future specialists, including skills in dialogue facilitation, conflict resolution, and the creation of an inclusive educational environment. The format of the event encouraged active student participation, exchange of ideas, and the development of analytical thinking.
The event demonstrated the importance of integrating scientific knowledge with pedagogical practice and highlighted the role of higher education in training qualified professionals for the school education system.
