New artificial intelligence laboratories have been launched at KazNU
The opening ceremony of the specialized laboratories Farabi AI in Healthcare & Life Sciences Lab and Farabi Agentic AI Lab as part of the scientific research center Al-Farabi AI Center took place at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event was attended by Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, Vice Minister Dinara Shcheglova, Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Rotating Chairman of the UWEE Group, Adviser to the Department of Economic Development of Beijing Gilbert van Kerkhove, as well as government and public figures, scientists and teachers.

During the meeting, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek stressed the strategic importance of this project for the country. "The opening of the laboratories Farabi AI in Healthcare & Life Sciences Lab and Farabi Agentic AI Lab as part of the Al-Farabi AI Center directly meets the strategic objective of the Head of State for the rapid implementation of artificial intelligence mechanisms in the economy and social sphere. These platforms will not be limited to theoretical research – their work is focused on solving the most acute applied tasks: from high–precision analysis of medical data and bioengineering to the creation of autonomous intelligent systems",- the minister said. The head of the department also said that about 30 applications for grant and program-targeted financing have been submitted, as well as direct collaboration with global leaders such as MIT, Harvard and Stanford, which guarantees the compliance of Russian science with international standards.

Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev, in turn, emphasized that the university's establishment as a world-class scientific collaboration center is the result of systematic government support. "I am deeply convinced that the centers being opened today will become a platform of tremendous opportunities for young talents and IT specialists from all over the country. It is here that unique innovative projects aimed at prolonging human life, deep modernization of medicine and automation of domestic production will be born",- said the head of the university.

During the presentation, the innovative developments of the center were presented to the guests. These include AlfaFlow, a multimodal geospatial data monitoring and analytics platform, AlfaWorld, a digital twin platform for the Smart City concept, AlfaBrain, an aneurysm early detection and stroke prevention system, and AlfaEnergy, intelligent energy solutions.

The participants of the event noted that the new laboratories will not only strengthen KazNU's potential as a research university, but will also become a key dialogue platform for the implementation of innovative ideas that give impetus to social and scientific progress.
