The laboratory, launched on the basis of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, is aimed at carrying out large-scale work on the conservation, reproduction and effective use of endangered and rare plant species. Here, scientists will give priority to a comprehensive study of the genetic characteristics, biological activity, and ecological adaptability of plants, as well as determining their medicinal and economic significance.

The opening ceremony was attended by: Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Amangeldy Bisenbayev, Director General of the RSE "Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction" Gulnara Sitpayeva, representatives of research institutes, veteran teachers in the field of biology, famous scientists and students.

Speaking at the solemn meeting, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that the opening of the new laboratory would give an impetus to the development of university science. In his speech, the rector emphasized that this research center would combine education and science, giving doctoral students the opportunity to engage in research.

"This laboratory is not only a place for scientific research, but also an environment conducive to the professional development of young scientists. The University always considers the development of science as one of the main priorities. Therefore, we systematically support such initiatives and make efforts to become an international scientific center. Currently, the issues of ecology and conservation of natural resources are relevant at the global level. In this regard, I believe that the research of our scientists will yield concrete results that have not only theoretical but also practical significance",- said the rector.

In turn, the head of the Laboratory of Plant Resources and Pharmacobotany, Bekzat Tynybekov, noted that the center is equipped with the latest generation of equipment. "This laboratory is being launched in the field of botany for the first time in the history of the university. More than 10 specialists work here. In the laboratory, scientists can conduct research using modern equipment. All the devices were purchased taking into account foreign experience," said Bekzat Tynybekov.

In the future, the laboratory's scientists plan to conduct joint research with foreign scientific centers.
