Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology hosted a round table "Future without Corruption: Values of Honesty and Prudence"

On March 2, 2026, the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of 91ý Kazakh National University hosted a round table with training elements on the theme: "Future without Corruption: Values of Honesty and Prudence". The event was organized as part of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16) – "Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions".

The organizers were Professor of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience, Candidate of Biological Sciences N.T. Ablaykhanova and Senior Researcher, PhD A.E. Yesenbekova. The participants were 2nd year students of the specialty "6В05108 – Biomedicine" as well as undergraduates of the specialty "7M05102 – Biomedicine".

 

During the event, key aspects of the anti-corruption policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, mechanisms for combating corruption, and the role of youth in building a transparent society were considered. The round table program included:

a thematic presentation on anti-corruption issues;
an open discussion on the personal responsibility of every citizen;
analysis of practical cases with legal review;
group work to develop principles of anti-corruption behavior;
reflection and summarising.

Participants actively engaged in the discussion, offered their own solutions to simulated situations, demonstrated a high level of legal literacy and understanding of the importance of honesty and prudence in professional and everyday life.

Following the event, students noted that the knowledge gained will help them not only to avoid corruption risks in their future professional activities but also to actively contribute to the formation of a fair environment at the university and in society as a whole.

Such educational events at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology will continue within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals implementation and educational work with students.
