Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4), on April 15, 2026, first-year Master’s students of the educational program 7M01504 – “Biology” at 91ý Kazakh National University, under the supervision of Acting Associate Professor of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience, PhD Zh.K. Kenzheyeva, conducted a seminar-training for first-year Master’s students on the topic “Professional Competence of Youth and the Culture of Lifelong Learning.”

During the seminar-training, a series of structured educational and interactive activities were implemented. An introductory discussion was held to explore the concept of professional competence and its significance in contemporary society. In addition, an interactive exercise entitled “Assessment of Personal Competencies” enabled participants to critically analyze their knowledge, skills, and personal attributes.

A group activity titled “The Ideal Professional”was organized, during which participants developed and presented posters reflecting the key competencies required of modern specialists. Furthermore, the concept of lifelong learning was discussed, highlighting opportunities for online education and continuous self-development.

The practical component of the seminar included the development of individual professional development plans. The session concluded with a reflective activity that allowed participants to evaluate the knowledge they had acquired and to identify directions for further personal and professional growth.

The seminar-training was attended by first-year Master’s students of the 7M01504 – “Biology” program of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience at 91ý Kazakh National University.

As a result of the seminar-training, significant educational and practice-oriented outcomes were achieved. Participants deepened their understanding of the essence of professional competence and its role in the modern labor market, and recognized the importance of continuous self-development and lifelong learning.

Particular attention was given to the development of self-reflection skills. Participants were able to objectively assess their level of knowledge,competencies, and personal qualities, identify their strengths and areas for improvement, and adopt a more conscious approach to shaping their professional trajectories.

Through group work, participants developed a comprehensive understanding of the requirements for modern professionals, including the importance of so-called “soft skills” such as communication, critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.

The practical component enabled each participant to design an individual professional development plan, representing an important step toward achieving both personal and career goals. Moreover, participants demonstrated increased academic motivation, as well as a growing interest in additional education, online courses, and independent learning.

Overall, the seminar-training had a positive impact on fostering a culture of lifelong learning among young people, enhancing their confidence in their own abilities and their readiness for professional self-realization.
