“Smart Government: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration”
On April 17, 2026, an open lesson was held for students of the Public Administration (GиМУ) program on the topic “Smart Government: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration.” The main objective of the session was to explain to future civil servants the opportunities of applying artificial intelligence technologies in the context of digital government, as well as to develop their professional competencies.
During the open lesson, the concept of “Smart Government” was comprehensively examined, and the differences between traditional public administration systems and digital governance models were analyzed. The lecturer noted that data-driven decision making is becoming one of the key trends in the modern public sector. In this context, artificial intelligence is considered one of the main tools for increasing the efficiency of public administration.
The lesson explained the main areas of artificial intelligence application in the public sector. In particular, the automation of citizen inquiries, digitalization of public services, budget and resource analysis, corruption risk forecasting, and social policy planning were discussed. In addition, examples of using ChatGPT and other analytical systems in improving public administration were presented.
In the practical part, students were given real-life case studies. They developed solutions to improve the performance of a specific government agency using artificial intelligence technologies. These tasks contributed to the development of critical thinking and the formation of skills in applying innovative approaches in public administration.
The lesson also discussed the advantages and risks of the Smart Government system. Advantages included improved quality of public services, time savings, and increased transparency. Risks included data security issues, algorithm fairness, and digital inequality.
The open lesson was conducted in an interactive format and was characterized by high student engagement. Group discussions, exchange of opinions, and practical tasks allowed for a deeper understanding of the topic. By the end of the session, students recognized the strategic importance of artificial intelligence in public administration and increased their interest in using digital tools in their future professional careers.
In conclusion, the open lesson clearly demonstrated the role of the Smart Government concept in modernizing the public administration system. The effective use of artificial intelligence technologies is an essential professional competence for today’s public servants.
