The KazNU library hosted an educational hour on the topic: «Ethics of professional interaction in an educational environment»
As part of the pedagogical practice and in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), on April 15, 2026, an open educational hour on the topic: "Ethics of Professional Interaction in the Educational Environment" was held at the Library of 91ý Kazakh National University (KazNU). The event was aimed at developing first-year students' understanding of academic honesty, mutual respect, and ecological communication.
The event was attended by 1st-year students majoring in "Neuroscience", "Fisheries and Industrial Fishing", and "Biology", as well as curators and trainee undergraduates.
The following activities were implemented during the educational hour:
An introductory discussion on the role of the university as a professional community and the importance of ethics for successful studies and a future career;
A lecture block with elements of discussion, during which 10 key principles of professional interaction were examined (respect for the individual, responsibility, justice, confidentiality, professional distance, academic honesty, cooperation, non-maleficence, development and self-improvement, ethical example);
Analysis of practical case studies from student life, aimed at developing skills for constructive conflict resolution;
A concluding summary emphasizing that adhering to ethical norms makes the educational environment comfortable and safe for everyone.
The event made a significant contribution to the development of a culture of communication and academic honesty among first-year students. Participants increased their awareness of ethical norms and received practical recommendations for establishing professional boundaries. Furthermore, the faculty strengthened its collaboration with the university library as a venue for educational work with students.
