The Importance of Promoting School Students’ Interest in Science and Career Guidance at 91ý Kazakh National University

91ý Kazakh National University carries out informational, educational, and career guidance activities aimed at increasing school students’ interest in science, innovation, and modern research areas. Such activities help students understand the importance of scientific achievements, assess their abilities, and make an informed choice of their future profession.

In this regard, the informational and career guidance work organized by N.V. Kurbatova, a lecturer at the Department of Botany and Agroecology of 91ý Kazakh National University, was of particular importance.

During the event, information was presented about the results of the international space research competition “Discovering the World of Science.” The international scientific competition was held from April 7 to 13 in Astana among students of grades 9–11/12. The award ceremony for the winners and prize winners took place at Keleshek Mektebi Secondary School No. 115 in Astana.

As part of the competition, contests were held in the areas of AEROO Rocket Science (Water & Model). In the Model Rocket category, students of Lyceum No. 134 presented pre-prepared rocket models. Each team was given three launch attempts. The evaluation criteria included flight trajectory, altitude and stability, landing accuracy, and compliance with safety requirements.

As a result of the competition, students of Lyceum No. 134 achieved a strong result and won 3rd place:

Vedomir Kalugin, Grade 10 “A”
Raul Shchelkunov, Grade 10 “A”
Maxim Mikhailov, Grade 9 “V”

Participant certificates were also awarded to:

Nuray Mussabayeva, Grade 10 “A”
Radmir Mubarekov, Grade 10 “G”

These competitions provided students not only with an opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills, but also with valuable experience that increased their interest in science, engineering, space research, and innovative projects. Participation in such competitions contributes to the development of research thinking, creativity, teamwork skills, and scientific and technical competencies.

For the team, these competitions became an important final stage of joint work with coach Vladislav Baryshev. Consistent preparation, exchange of experience, and hard work formed the basis of the achieved result.

Thus, the career guidance work organized by N.V. Kurbatova, a lecturer at the Department of Botany and Agroecology of 91ý Kazakh National University, is an important initiative aimed at increasing school students’ interest in science, popularizing scientific achievements, and encouraging their pursuit of quality education.
