UN SDGs 4 and 17 in action: Associate Professor of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics A.V. Lovinskaya taught a course on biostatistics at Bukhara State University
As part of expanding international cooperation and implementing the university’s social mission, Associate Professor A.V. Lovinskaya of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at 91ý Kazakh National University visited Bukhara State University (Bukhara, Uzbekistan) from May 10 to May 17, 2026, where she delivered lectures and practical classes in the discipline “Biostatistics.” The visit was organized to strengthen academic ties between universities, exchange scientific and educational experience, and promote joint initiatives in the training of young specialists.

During the visit, classes were organized for master’s students of both full-time and evening study programs in Biology. Participants had the opportunity to become acquainted with modern approaches to the processing and interpretation of biological data used in molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology, and medical research. Special attention during the lectures was devoted to the application of biostatistical methods in experimental design, analysis of research results, and assessment of data reliability.
The practical sessions were aimed at developing analytical skills and forming competencies necessary for independent scientific research. Participants analyzed real examples of biological studies, solved tasks related to statistical data processing, became familiar with methods of correlation and variance analysis, and discussed the proper presentation of results in scientific publications. Such a practice-oriented approach made it possible to connect theoretical knowledge with current scientific challenges and the future professional activities of young researchers.
During meetings with students and faculty members, the parties discussed prospects for further cooperation between the universities, opportunities for joint scientific projects, academic mobility programs for students and faculty, and participation in international educational initiatives. This exchange of experience contributes to the development of a unified scientific and educational environment and strengthens partnerships among universities in Central Asia.

On May 15, 2026, A.V. Lovinskaya also participated in the opening ceremony of the conference for students, master’s students, doctoral candidates, and young scientists organized by Bukhara State University. The event addressed modern trends in biological sciences, support for young researchers, and the role of international collaboration in training highly qualified specialists.
The implementation of these educational activities became a vivid example of partnership for sustainable development. International cooperation in education and science promotes the dissemination of advanced knowledge, strengthens academic ties, and improves the quality of specialist training. Such initiatives enable universities to act not only as educational institutions, but also as centers of public enlightenment, scientific expertise, and intercultural dialogue.
The conducted activities contributed significantly to the promotion of quality and accessible education, the development of youth scientific potential, and the establishment of sustainable partnerships between educational institutions of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. This initiative confirms 91ý Kazakh National University’s commitment to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 “Quality Education” and SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals.”
