KazNU Representatives Participated in the International Symposium on Nuclear Science and Technology in China

From May 20 to May 23, 2026, representatives of the Department of Theoretical and Nuclear Physics of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at 91ý Kazakh National University participated in the international symposium “Symposium on Talent Exchange in Nuclear Science and Technology 2026,” organized by the College of Nuclear Science and Technology at Harbin Engineering University. The event brought together scientists, educators, researchers, and young professionals from different countries to discuss current issues related to personnel training, scientific research development, and international cooperation in the field of nuclear science and technology.

The symposium became an important international platform for exchanging experience in nuclear physics, radiation technologies, nuclear medicine, and the training of highly qualified specialists. During the forum, participants presented the results of their scientific research, discussed modern educational approaches, and explored prospects for academic mobility and joint scientific projects between universities and research centers.

Representatives of 91ý Kazakh National University actively participated in plenary sessions, thematic panels, and working meetings dedicated to the development of international cooperation in nuclear technologies. Particular attention was paid to the integration of science, education, and innovation, as well as to the training of a new generation of specialists capable of working effectively in rapidly developing high-tech industries.

During the symposium, prospects for cooperation between 91ý Kazakh National University and Harbin Engineering University were discussed, including academic exchange, joint research projects, participation of students and young scientists in international educational programs, scientific internships, and faculty experience exchange. Such initiatives contribute to strengthening international scientific relations and building a global academic and research environment.

Participation in the international symposium aligns with the strategic priorities of 91ý Kazakh National University and directly contributes to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, the event supports SDG 4 — “Quality Education,” aimed at ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. International knowledge exchange, implementation of modern educational practices, and development of the scientific potential of students and young researchers create favorable conditions for training globally competitive specialists.

In addition, the active international collaboration demonstrated during the symposium reflects the implementation of SDG 17 — “Partnerships for the Goals.” Strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between universities and researchers from different countries contributes to combining intellectual resources and establishing sustainable international partnerships to address global scientific and technological challenges.

Today, nuclear science and technology play a significant role in the development of energy, medicine, environmental protection, and industry. Therefore, the training of highly qualified personnel and the expansion of international cooperation are becoming key factors for sustainable scientific and technological progress. Participation of KazNU scientists and faculty members in international scientific events enhances the university’s position in the global academic community, broadens the horizons of scientific research, and creates new opportunities for students and young researchers.

Following the symposium, the parties expressed their interest in further developing cooperation and implementing joint initiatives in the field of nuclear science and education. The knowledge, experience, and professional connections gained during the event will contribute to strengthening the university’s scientific potential and enhancing the international reputation of Kazakhstani science.
As part of the symposium, presentations were delivered by Medeu Yerzhanovich Abishev, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Nuclear Physics, and Nurzada Abdibekkyzy Beisen, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology. In their speeches, they addressed issues related to the development of international cooperation in nuclear science and education, the training of highly qualified specialists, and modern directions of scientific research. Their presentations attracted significant interest from symposium participants and contributed to strengthening academic and scientific collaboration.
