Kazakh Ethnostyle in the Global Cultural Space: A Scientific Project Seeking New Aesthetic Solutions.

What if Kazakh national ornaments appeared on global fashion runways? What if the architectural philosophy of the yurt became a new trend in modern interior design? Or what if the aesthetics of nomadic culture, formed over centuries, became a new source of inspiration for international creative industries? Japan, by combining its traditional aesthetics with modern design, turned "Japanese minimalism" into a global brand. Korea has been promoting its national cultural code internationally through cinema, music, and the fashion industry. Scandinavian countries have elevated their traditional culture, which harmonizes with nature, to a new level in interior design and architecture.

What is the place of Kazakh ethnostyle in the global cultural space? How are its traditional elements evolving under the conditions of modern globalization? How can national culture be adapted to the language of modern art and design while preserving its unique identity? Searching for answers to these questions, the scientific project titled "Kazakh Ethnostyle in the Global Cultural Space: New Aesthetic Solutions" is being implemented under grant funding for 2025–2027. The project is conducted as a fundamental study in the field of socio-humanitarian sciences, aimed at examining the philosophical, cultural, and aesthetic foundations of Kazakh ethnostyle from a new scientific perspective.

Globalization has become one of the most extensive cultural shifts in human history. The development of information technology, the widespread use of digital platforms, and the strengthening of international cultural ties have brought the interaction of national cultures to an unprecedented level. This process has many positive aspects: the peoples of the world have gained the opportunity to better understand each other's cultures and exchange creative experiences. However, there is another side to globalization. Experts note the risk of the gradual weakening of the cultural characteristics of many ethnic groups and the beginning of the dominance of uniform models in the global cultural space.

In such conditions, the preservation of the national cultural code has acquired particular relevance. For Kazakhstan, the importance of this issue is even higher. The nomadic civilization, formed over several millennia of Kazakh history, is not only a historical heritage but also a vital component of modern culture. National ornaments, yurt architecture, jewelry, handicrafts, national clothing styles, traditional music, and decorative arts are acquiring new meaning in today's society. In recent years, ethnostyle has begun to be widely used not only in the field of culture but also in the fashion industry, graphic design, interior architecture, film production, digital art, and other sectors of the creative economy.

However, the scientific foundations of these processes have not yet been fully studied. Many associate ethnostyle only with national clothing or ornaments. In reality, this concept is much broader. Kazakh ethnostyle is a system of cultural values that reflects the worldview, lifestyle, aesthetic taste, and historical experience of the Kazakh people. It includes traditional crafts, architecture, national clothing, jewelry, musical culture, decorative arts, symbol systems, color harmonies, and the philosophy of spatial organization.

The project is implemented through several interconnected scientific directions. First, a comprehensive analysis of philosophical, culturological, and art-historical literature related to Kazakh ethnostyle is conducted. At this stage, the history of the formation of Kazakh ethnostyle, its cultural foundations, and modern scientific concepts are analyzed. In the next stage, the representation of Kazakh ethnostyle in Kazakhstan and the international space is studied. Scientists analyze how national culture is presented in the fashion industry, fine arts, architecture, graphic design, and other creative fields.

In addition, field research is conducted in various regions of Kazakhstan. Ethnocultural characteristics in Western, Central, Eastern, and Southern Kazakhstan are compared, and regional differences in national style are identified. During this work, interviews are conducted with artisans, designers, artists, architects, and cultural specialists. Their experience allows for an assessment of the current development directions of Kazakh ethnostyle. The project is based on a complex methodology. In the initial stage, a comparative-historical method is used, through which the historical path of formation and the features of the modern development of Kazakh ethnostyle are analyzed. At the same time, similarities and differences between national cultural elements and the cultural experiences of other peoples are identified.

Through the content analysis method, manifestations of Kazakh ethnostyle in the mass media, fashion magazines, art exhibitions, social networks, and digital platforms are studied. During the ethnographic research, field work is organized in the regions of Kazakhstan, and the experience of local artisans, designers, and cultural figures is collected. The anthropological method allows for an evaluation of the social role of ethnostyle in modern society. This study is aimed at understanding people's attitudes toward national culture, its place in daily life, and its importance in preserving national identity.

Expert interviews and surveys are also conducted. Culturologists, art historians, designers, architects, fashion industry specialists, and representatives of creative organizations participate in the research. All collected materials are scientifically analyzed, and comprehensive conclusions are drawn about the current state of Kazakh ethnostyle. One of the project's important directions is identifying the link between tradition and innovation. The research will determine which elements of Kazakh ethnostyle have remained unchanged for centuries, which have taken on a new character under the influence of modern society, and in which directions they might develop in the future.

The scientific project is aimed at a comprehensive study of the place and development trends of Kazakh ethnostyle in the global cultural space. As a result of the research, the philosophical and aesthetic foundations of Kazakh ethnostyle will be systematized, and a scientific assessment of its role in modern culture and creative industries will be provided. Within the framework of the project, a scientific monograph titled "The Role of Modern Kazakh Ethnostyle in the Global Cultural Space" will be developed, and articles will be published in international peer-reviewed journals. This will allow for the international recognition of scientific knowledge about Kazakh ethnostyle.

Furthermore, the research results will serve as a basis for improving educational programs in the fields of culturology, design, and art, as well as for the effective use of national cultural heritage in creative industries. Besides preserving national culture, the project provides scientific foundations for adapting it to modern requirements. Studying the use of Kazakh ethnostyle in fashion, design, architecture, and digital art contributes to increasing the competitiveness of national culture. The research results will serve the development of cultural policy, the strengthening of Kazakhstan's international cultural image, and the promotion of national culture on a global level.

Kazakh ethnostyle is not just a historical heritage, but a cultural value evolving alongside modern society. The project "Kazakh Ethnostyle in the Global Cultural Space: New Aesthetic Solutions" is aimed at the scientific study of the continuity between national cultural traditions and modern trends. The project's results will allow for defining the place of Kazakh ethnostyle in the international cultural space, developing its creative potential, and presenting national culture at a new level. This research contributes not only to the preservation of Kazakhstan's cultural heritage but also to its development as a modern and viable cultural value for future generations.
