From August 3 to 14, 2026, Saint Petersburg State University is hosting a summer school on methods of teaching the Russian language and literature. The educational program is attended by PhD holders Assel Zhunisbaeva and Gulbanu Makimova, faculty members of 91��ý Kazakh National University representing the Center for Russian Language and Culture. The participation of KazNU faculty members in the summer school is supported and financially assisted by the Russkiy Mir Foundation, making a significant contribution to the professional development of specialists engaged in teaching Russian, literature, and Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL). The summer school program is aimed at improving the professional and methodological competencies of teachers of Russian and literature. During the program, participants become acquainted with modern methods and technologies for teaching Russian and literature to international students, current trends in language education, effective educational practices, and contemporary approaches to organizing the learning process.

Particular attention is paid to the relationship between language and culture. Learning Russian as a foreign language involves not only mastering linguistic norms and developing communication skills, but also becoming familiar with the history, culture, and traditions of Russia. In their free time, Assel Zhunisbaeva and Gulbanu Makimova explore the historical and cultural heritage of St. Petersburg and visit the city's historical sites and landmarks.

Such direct immersion in the cultural environment contributes to a deeper understanding of the linguistic and cultural context and can be incorporated into their future teaching practice. Participation in the summer school allows the faculty members to expand their professional knowledge, become acquainted with contemporary academic and methodological developments in the fields of Russian as a Foreign Language, Russian language, and literature, exchange experience with Russian and international colleagues, and establish new professional contacts.
