The Center for Sociological Research and Social Engineering (CSRSE) was established by the decision of the Academic Council of 91传媒 Kazakh National University and has been operating since December 24, 2010, based at the Department of Sociology and Social Work of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science. The Center is a leading Kazakhstani research institution specializing in the study of contemporary educational issues and in providing sociological support for the university鈥檚 educational, social, and research activities. The studies conducted by the CSRSE are comprehensive and multifaceted, aimed at obtaining, analyzing, and disseminating information on the state and dynamics of social development and public opinion.

Center for Sociological Research and Social Engineering (CSRSE) of 91传媒 Kazakh National University is a modern research and analytical institution specializing in comprehensive sociological and applied studies in the fields of education, social policy, and public processes.

The Center conducts ongoing monitoring of the university’s educational and social environment, implementing a series of corporate and research projects aimed at improving academic efficiency and fostering an anti-corruption and inclusive institutional culture. Key monitoring directions include:

• “Social Mood and Job Satisfaction of Academic Staff”.

Since its establishment in 2010, the Center has implemented over 100 sociological studies commissioned by government bodies, international organizations, and foundations. CSRSE’s research combines scientific rigor and applied value, providing analytical support for management decisions, strategic planning, and assessment of social trends.

The Center actively develops educational and methodological infrastructure for applied sociology. Based on the Institute for Advanced Training of 91传媒 KazNU, CSRSE organizes workshops and training sessions on modern methods of sociological analysis, statistical data processing, and the use of analytical software (1KA, SPSS, NVivo, MaxQDA etc.). Since 2016, numerous training events have been held, including international programs conducted jointly with Columbia University and UNICEF (2020-2021).

A key initiative of the Center is the Scientific and Applied Laboratory of Youth Studies, aimed at cultivating a new generation of researchers. The laboratory provides practical training for students, master’s, and PhD candidates in fieldwork, data collection, and empirical analysis, and offers internship opportunities for young researchers and professionals in the social sphere.

The Center’s strong methodological foundation, proprietary databases, innovative approaches in qualitative and quantitative sociology, and a highly professional research team enable CSRSE to successfully implement projects of any complexity and maintain high standards of analytical accuracy and expert evaluation.

The main objective of the Center is to conduct fundamental and applied sociological research in priority areas of the social sciences, aimed at examining the state, trends, and driving factors of development in contemporary Kazakhstani society.

The Center carries out studies based on interdisciplinary, multifaceted, and contextual approaches, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of social processes, transformations, and public attitudes.

One of the key areas of the Center’s activity is the continuous monitoring of the university’s educational processes, including the analysis of the quality of educational services, the academic environment, and the satisfaction of students and academic staff.

DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER - Abdiraiymova Gulmira Serikovna - Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work at 91传媒 Kazakh National University.

Author and scientific editor of numerous academic publications on sociology and social work. Leader of national research projects and coordinator of international initiatives in the fields of sociology and social work.

She serves as the Coordinator of the Joint International Centre for Sustainable Development in Central Asia (PolyU & 91传媒 KazNU), where she advances interdisciplinary approaches to studying social innovation, well-being, and sustainability. Author of more than 300 scientific publications, including works indexed in the international Scopus database.

Scientific staff:

Verevkin Aleksey - Leading Researcher of the Centre, Candidate of Sciences in Sociology, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Sociology and Social Work. Author of more than 100 scientific publications, including monographs and textbooks.

Lifanova Tatyana - Leading Researcher of the Center, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Philosophy. Author of more than 150 scientific publications, including monographs and textbooks.
