A new lecture hall and a training laboratory have been opened

The Faculty of Physics and Technology of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the grand opening of a lecture hall and a training laboratory for students, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the famous physicist, Professor Kenes Zhumanov.

 

The event was attended by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, ViceRector for Research and Innovation at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, faculty members, representatives of the Kazakhstan Physical Society, Professor Kenes Zhumanov, his family and friends, as well as a graduate of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, General Director of KazMunayTradeExpo LLP, Chief Executive Officer of the company EQUUS Petroleum Ltd., a shareholder of Kumkol Trans Service LLP, Nurlan Zhumanov, and university students.

The opening ceremony began with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony at the entrance to Classrooms519 and521 on the fifth floor of the faculty. During the event, the guests were presented with updated lecture halls, an educational laboratory "Atomic Physics and Nanotechnology", as well as a modern coworking area for students. The presentation of educational and infrastructural opportunities was conducted by the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Nurzada Beisen.

Margulan Ibraimov, Vice-rector for Research and Innovation at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Sandugash Kodanova, Head of the Department of Plasma Physics, Nanotechnology and Computer Physics, Professor Yesengeldi Mengaziev, as well as Nurlan Zhumanov and others delivered welcoming and congratulatory speeches.

Professor Kenes Zhumanov was born on February 5, 1936 in the village of Belbulak, Almaty region. In 1954-59, he studied at the Physics Department of the Kazakh State University named after S.M.Kirov. He defended his PhD thesis in 1973, received the academic title of associate professor in 1978, and professor in 2002. Over the years, he held the position of head of the department, paying special attention to the development of the educational and methodological base and improving the quality of student training.

He is the author of about 50 scientific and educational works, including textbooks, electronic textbooks, as well as articles included in the National Encyclopedia of Kazakhstan. The equipment of the lecture hall, the Atomic Physics and Nanotechnology educational laboratory and the coworking center for students in a modern format was fully funded by Professor Kenes Zhumanov's son, a 1991 graduate of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, General Director of KazMunayTradeExpo LLP, Nurlan Zhumanov.

At the end of the event, on behalf of the university administration, Professor K.Zhumanov was deeply grateful for his many years of selfless work, dedication to science and significant contribution to the development of Russian physical education.
