Kazakh-Singapore Quantum Technology Center opened in KazNU
The opening ceremony of the Kazakh-Singapore Quantum Technology Center was held at the Farabi Hub Center for Innovative Products and High-Tech Projects of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. A project implemented jointly with the technological partners of ASTRASEC PTE. LTD (Singapore) and Qubitera LLP, is intended to become the basis for the formation of the national quantum ecosystem of Kazakhstan.
The center's activities are aimed at conducting fundamental and applied research, training a new generation of researchers, engineers and technology entrepreneurs, developing quantum–secure communications and computing solutions, as well as transferring international best practices, creating joint R&D projects and technological start-ups.

At the first stage, the laboratory of quantum cryptography and quantum communication was launched, equipped with modern photonic systems and educational and experimental infrastructure. This will allow for scientific research and practical training of specialists.

Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek congratulated the participants of the event. "Today, the world is on the verge of a quantum revolution. Its importance lies in the fact that the potential of modern digital, communication and computing systems based on traditional silicon technologies has reached its peak", the minister noted. "In this regard, the creation of the Kazakh-Singaporean Center for Quantum Technologies on the basis of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University opens up great opportunities for the development of science and the country's economy".

Chairman of the Management Board, Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the strategic importance of integrating science and business. "The creation of the new center is an important step in the implementation of KazNU's transformation strategy into a world–class research university. We combine strong academic potential with the best practices of our Singapore partners to create the technologies of the future. Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Singapore in the quantum field will have a synergistic effect",- Zhanseit Tuimebayev emphasized.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASTRASEC PTE. Zhang Yinghua LTD, acting as a key partner of the project, said: "The development of quantum research is a strategic necessity for Kazakhstan. Countries with their own next-generation quantum technologies gain a decisive advantage in the field of information security. Quantum communication is becoming a key priority today: it will ensure the digital sustainability of the state and open up access to the creation of the most promising technologies of the future".

Chairman of the Digital Assets and Breakthrough Technologies Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gizzat Baitursynov, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ilyas Nassenuly, Director of the Digitalization Department of the Ministry of Defense Serik Bozhgulov and others also spoke at the ceremony.

As part of the opening of the center, a closed round table was held on the topic "The Kazakh-Singapore Center for Quantum Technologies as a point of growth of the national quantum ecosystem". Representatives of ministries, scientists and heads of technology companies took part in the discussion.

The participants discussed the prospects for the development of the center, paying special attention to issues of quantum cybersecurity, industrial partnership and intellectual property protection in the implementation of joint projects.
