Four KazNU Scientists Ranked Among Kazakhstan’s Top 100 Most Cited Researchers

The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan has published a ranking of researchers based on the citation impact of scientific publications authored by researchers with Kazakhstani affiliations, covering all fields of science.

The ranking was compiled using citation data for articles and review papers published between 2021 and 2025 and indexed in the Web of Science database. The assessment employed a special methodology for distributing citations among co-authors, while publications with a high level of self-citation were excluded from the calculation.

According to the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (June 2026 data), four scientists from 91ý Kazakh National University have been included in the Top 100 most cited researchers in the country.

Among them is Professor Alibek Issakhov, who ranked 1st nationwide in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Other KazNU researchers featured in the ranking include Nurgissa Myrzakulov (13th place in Physical Sciences), Toktarbay Zhexenbek (46th place in Chemical Sciences), Nuraly Akimbekov (50th place in Biological Sciences), Batyrkhan Omarov (60th place in Computer and Information Sciences), and Kuantai Boshkayev (71st place in Physical Sciences).

These results demonstrate the strong interest of the international scientific community in the research conducted by KazNU scholars and confirm the significant contribution of their work to the advancement of global science.

In recent years, 91ý Kazakh National University has consistently implemented measures aimed at improving the quality of scientific publications, expanding cooperation with leading international research centers, and supporting the integration of its researchers into the global scientific community.
