March 1 – Day of Gratitude of the Department of Electronics and Astrophysics, Faculty of Physics and Engineering (SDG 4: Quality Education)
In honor of March 1 – the Day of Gratitude, an open advisory (curatorial) session was held for students of Group 351 of the educational program “Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications” at the Faculty of Physics and Technology of 91ý Kazakh National University. The event titled “Gratitude – the Essence of the Word” was organized by M.T. Kyzgarina, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Electronics and Astrophysics. The advisory hour took place on March 2, 2026, at 16:00 in Room 411 and was aimed at fostering moral and ethical values as well as strengthening a culture of mutual respect among students.
The primary objective of the event was to cultivate a culture of gratitude among students, promote respect, kindness, and empathy in interpersonal communication, and encourage the development of positive social values. In modern society, the ability to express gratitude and appreciate the contributions of others is considered an essential component of social culture and emotional intelligence. The organizers emphasized that such meetings contribute to the creation of a positive academic environment, strengthen trust between students and faculty members, and support the development of humanistic values within the educational community.
During the advisory session, participants discussed the significance of gratitude in everyday life and its role in fostering harmonious relationships within society. Students shared words of appreciation addressed to their peers, teachers, parents, and individuals who had influenced their personal and academic development. This interactive format created an open and supportive atmosphere that encouraged sincere dialogue and mutual understanding among participants.
Particular attention was given to examples from personal experience demonstrating how expressions of gratitude can strengthen relationships, provide emotional support, and contribute to a positive social climate within a community. Students actively participated in discussions, sharing their reflections on how a culture of gratitude can help build a more respectful, responsible, and compassionate society.
The session also included interactive discussions and reflective activities that allowed students to express their perspectives on the role of gratitude in human life. Participants noted that the ability to express appreciation and recognize the support of others is an important personal quality that contributes to the development of social responsibility, respect, and empathy.
At the conclusion of the advisory hour, M.T. Kyzgarina emphasized that gratitude plays a crucial role in strengthening interpersonal relationships and fostering trust and mutual respect within society. She highlighted that the practice of expressing gratitude should become an integral part of everyday life, as such values form the foundation of a healthy and sustainable social environment.
The event also aligns with the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, the advisory session contributes to SDG 4 – Quality Education, as it supports the development of important social and personal competencies among students, including communication skills, ethical awareness, and the cultivation of moral values. Furthermore, the discussion of respect, mutual understanding, and civic responsibility corresponds with SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, which promotes the development of a culture of peace, trust, and social cohesion.
At the end of the meeting, students noted the importance of such initiatives in creating a positive atmosphere within the student community. Participants expressed their intention to actively apply the culture of gratitude in their daily lives and to promote values of mutual respect, support, and kindness.
Thus, the advisory session became an important component of the faculty’s educational and mentoring activities, contributing to the development of ethical values, strengthening the student community, and promoting a culture of gratitude among young people.
