Constitutional Modernization: The People’s Choice – The Future of the Nation

On March 3, 2026, at 6:00 PM, a meeting with students titled “Constitutional Modernization: The People’s Choice – The Future of the Nation” was held at Dormitory No. 16 of Әл-Фараби атындағы Қазақ ұлттық университеті, Higher School of Economics and Business.
The event featured Kanat Alikhan, senior lecturer at the department of theory and history of state and law, constitutional and administrative law, faculty of law; master of law, PhD candidate, who delivered an informative lecture-discussion
The main purpose of the meeting was to explain to students the essence and significance of the constitutional modernization process in Kazakhstan, the legal nature of the referendum institution, and to discuss the priority directions of the country’s new stage of socio-economic development.
In his speech, Alihan Kanat emphasized that the Қазақстан Республикасының Конституциясы is the fundamental legal document that determines the strategic direction of the state’s development. He noted that constitutional modernization serves as an important mechanism for improving the political system in line with modern requirements and for updating economic and social institutions, providing a comprehensive academic analysis of these processes.
Students showed particular interest in the impact of constitutional amendments on the development of human capital and the improvement of education quality, as well as in the constitutional and political significance of the Ұлттық құрылтай. In addition, issues related to strengthening the legal culture of the younger generation and enhancing civic responsibility were widely discussed.
During the meeting, students asked questions of concern and received detailed and substantive answers. In conclusion, the participants expressed their gratitude to the speaker and highlighted the important role of such meetings in improving the legal literacy of young people.
