Körisu Day – Revival of a National Tradition

On March 14, 2026, the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism celebrated the national holiday Körisu Day. Faculty members and students met with one another, exchanged warm wishes, and organized a meaningful gathering aimed at promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Kazakh people. During the event, the importance of national traditions was emphasized, as well as the need to preserve and pass them on to the younger generation.

Körisu Day is one of the ancient traditions of the Kazakh people. On this day, people meet, greet each other with handshakes, wish one another health and prosperity, forget past grievances, and welcome the beginning of the new year with goodwill. The holiday helps strengthen mutual respect and unity among people and promotes national values such as respect for elders and kindness toward the younger generation.
