International Round Table “AI for Scientific Research: From Data to Knowledge” Held

On March 18, 2026, the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence at 91ý Kazakh National University hosted an international round table titled “AI for Scientific Research: From Data to Knowledge,” organized by the Department of Information Systems.

The event was held in a hybrid format (offline and online) in the conference hall (room 303) and brought together scholars, researchers, and experts from Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and the Russian Federation.

The main objective of the round table was to exchange experience and discuss modern approaches to the application of artificial intelligence methods in scientific research. Particular attention was given to big data processing, pattern recognition, and the transformation of data into new scientific knowledge.

The opening remarks were delivered by A.N. Shormakova, Head of the Department of Information Systems, who emphasized the importance of integrating artificial intelligence technologies into research activities and strengthening international collaboration. The round table was moderated by A.A. Mukhitova, Deputy Head of the Department of Information Systems for Research and Innovation and International Relations.

During the main session, leading international and national scholars delivered their presentations. In particular, Professor Leonidas Sakalauskas, Chief Researcher at the Institute of Data Science and Digital Technologies, Vilnius University (Republic of Lithuania), presented a report on artificial intelligence solutions for social content analysis and management.

PhD Konul Habibova (Republic of Azerbaijan) addressed the application of corpus linguistics and artificial intelligence in modern philological science. Sharipov Sokhib Salimovich, PhD, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Russian Language and Literature at Bukhara State University (Republic of Uzbekistan), presented research results on automatic punctuation in Uzbek ASR transcripts.

Professor Nilyufar Abdurakhmonova, Head of the Department of Computer and Applied Linguistics at the National University of Uzbekistan (Republic of Uzbekistan), highlighted the cognitive role of artificial intelligence in interdisciplinary research within digital environments. Emirbek Avtandilovich Dzhalbiev, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Vice-Rector of the Kyrgyz-German Institute of Applied Mathematics (Kyrgyz Republic), presented a report on the use of AI in science-intensive industries, from predictive analytics to autonomous synthesis.

PhD, Associate Research Professor Diana Ramazanovna Rakhimova (Republic of Kazakhstan) presented a report on the application of artificial intelligence methods in diagnosing and correcting speech disorders in children using the LogopedAI system. Professor Vladimir Borisovich Barakhnin, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Information Resources at the Federal Research Center for Information and Computational Technologies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russian Federation), discussed the limits of applicability of artificial intelligence as a research tool.

PhD, Professor, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Information and Computational Technologies of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ajnur Kholdasovna Kozbakova presented a report on the factors enabling and hindering scientific collaboration.
