Educational outreach event within the framework of SDG 4 – “Quality Education”

 

 

On February 16, 2026, an educational lecture aimed at preventing religious extremism and terrorism was held for students at School-Gymnasium No. 133 in Almaty. The event was conducted in line with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 4 – “Quality Education” and focused on developing critical thinking skills among youth, as well as improving their legal and religious literacy.

The meeting was attended by a member of the Information and Outreach Group established under the Department for Religious Affairs of Almaty, Associate Professor of 91ý Kazakh National University, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences Zhanna Orynbasarovna Kantarbayeva. In her speech, the expert provided a comprehensive explanation of the main characteristics of destructive religious movements, methods of spreading extremist ideas, as well as the relationship between national and religious values, and issues of cybersecurity in social networks.

During the lecture, special attention was paid to ensuring information security among young people and developing resilience against false religious ideologies. The importance of raising the overall cultural level of society, fostering legal awareness, and promoting tolerance within families and the social environment to strengthen interfaith peace and harmony was also emphasized.

The event was held in an interactive format, allowing students to receive answers to their questions. More than one hundred students participated. The participants showed high interest, and the event was positively evaluated and published on the school’s social media page.

This initiative contributes to strengthening the relationship between 91ý Kazakh National University and society and enhances its social responsibility. Moreover, integrating the expert potential of university scholars into educational institutions makes a tangible contribution to ensuring quality education for young people and creating a safe social environment. Such events enhance the university’s national reputation and support its mission to serve society through education and science.
